APW - Hamilton, C & EI RR (Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad), 18S, nickel OF display case marked Hamilton on bezels, SW-LS, WE-SSD signed "Veatch, Rossville Ill," lever escapement, 17J, NI damascene, s#214223. Very rare railroad marked watch; 0 J W Veatch was a jeweler in Rossville, IL, which is located on the route of the Chicago and Eastern Illinois RR. Watch comes with additional nickel OF case that is believed to be its original.
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, excellent plus mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plate surfaces, MFS and mild FS with greatest concentration around case-screw areas and on foot of balance cock, spacer beneath one case-screw; dial near perfect with a short mild FS in glaze to area right of signature; fine hands; glass-back case shows little wear, some MFS, no dents or dings, tarnish in areas, bow is tight, crown shows little wear, good glass crystals; additional nickel OF case believed to be original shows light wear, scattered MFS and FS, some scattered mild dings and nicks, tight bow, crown shows little wear, glass crystal with scattered MFS and some small imperfections.
